Beneath her charms lie uncommon courage and great success. And despite her self-effacing, humble and modest disposition, her glittering record of achievements in the Engineering Profession in Nigeria and has catapulted her to stardom. Since realizing her dream of affecting humanity on a large scale,Engr. Dr.(Mrs.) Funmilayo Mary Waheed-Adekojo has never looked back in her quest to better the society, especially, in different areas of Engineering Profession, Philanthropic and Humanitarian Services.
Engr. Dr. Waheed-Adekojo Funmilayo is the amiable Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer of FunmiAyinke Nigeria Ltd., A Certified Mechanical Engineer with the member of Council for the Regulations of Engineering in Nigeria (COREN).
A native of Arigidi Akoko in Akoko-North Local Government of Ondo State, and a bundle of brain, beauty and courage, Funmilayo graduated from the Ladoke Akintola University of Technology, Ogbomoso, Oyo State with Bachelor of Technology (B. Tech.) in Mechanical Engineering with Second Class (Hons,) Upper Division and Master in Business Administration (MBA) Executive.
She started her national Youth Service programme at the Ministry of Work and Housing, Gumel, Jigawa State. After nine months, she redeployed to the Works and Services Department, University of Agriculture, Abeokuta, Ogun State, after which she had a brief stint at Adefun Investment, Ibadan, Oyo State.


Funmi’s engineering prowess was brought to the fore when she joined the services of the Federal University of Agriculture, Abeokuta (FUNAAB). Here, she was made the Head, Mechanical Engineering Unit at the Works and Services Unit of the institution, where she handled numerous responsibilities covering diverse aspects of engineering and administration. At the Generator Section, she handled the maintenance and servicing of the 52 pieces of the university’s diesel generators with capacity ranging between 60 to 2000 kVA as well as determining the load requirements and forecast the power need of the institution. She was also responsible for all activities at the Automobile Section where she took charge of the maintenance and servicing of all the university vehicles. She equally coordinated the activities of all university drivers. Her further duties included the installation, maintenance and servicing of all the cooling appliances, both split and window-units air conditioning systems, in the Refrigeration and Aircondition system. Other section under her coordination was the Fabrication Section. Here, she was responsible for the designing and development of various projects involving metal works: cutting, welding and fabrication, including lecture theatre seats, gates, water scaffolds and many other facilities. In spite of her workload, she was also able to handle many administrative responsibilities of her unit, including the preparation of contract papers for the repairs and maintenance of the engineering facilities as well as the retirement of all cash advances and supervision of contactors working in the unit, in addition to being Member, Tender Evaluation Committee of the University. Not someone to be glued to a regimented environment and apparently in a bid to serve the society on a larger pedestal,

Engr. Dr. Funmilayo Waheed-Adekojo floated FunmiAyinke Nig. Ltd., a fast growing engineering company that is competently involved in project management, consultancy services, supervision, design, processing and management of all organization businesses on every aspect of mechanical, electrical and civil engineering works. Under the able leadership of Engr. Dr. (Mrs.) Waheed-Adekojo, the company has also distinguished itself in the area of construction of buildings, towers, roads and engineering surveying, facilities management and public procurement training for organizations, general supply of all goods, petroleum products and all types of vehicles. FunmiAyinke Nig. Ltd. also prides itself as an indispensable ally in running of lines for filing stations, supply, installation and maintenance of all fuel dispensing pumps across the length and breadth of Nigeria and beyond. An embodiment of compassion and epitome of generosity, it is no gainsaying that Funmilayo has positioned her outfits as platforms to reach out to the needy. This can be attested to by the quantum of her philanthropic and humanitarian activities that dot every nock and cranny of the society. To drive home her love for the suffering masses of this great country, she established FunmiAyinke Humanity Foundation, an organisation she has vigorously used to touch many lives through job 3 creation, empowerment programmes for widows, single parents, abandoned children and children under the care of single parents. To date, the foundation has empowered over 10,000 women and sponsored more than 500 undergraduates among other gestures.
She is deeply committed to youth development and empowerment. Her weekly online Talent Hunt programme attracts more than 30,000 participants. Youths are trained through this platform on career and how to discover themselves and the inherent talents in them. All sections of the programme are captivating as they are fashioned to trigger the hidden treasure in the participants. The programme also involves competition through which the best five candidates receive cash gift every weekend.



Engr. Dr. Funmilayo Waheed-Adekojo belongs to many professional organizations. She is a Fellow of the Nigerian Institution of Mechanical Engineers (FNIMechE), a Fellow of International Management Consultant (FIMC), and the Institute of Management Consultants-Nigeria Certified Management Consultant, a Fellow of Nigerian Society of Engineers (FNSE), and also Fellow of Institute of Management Specialist UK (FIMS), Member, Association of Professional Women Engineers of Nigeria (APWEN) Certified Mechanical Engineer with the Council for the Regulation of Engineering in Nigeria (COREN), Global Member of Project Management Institute (PMI), USA, and Certified Procurement Cadre by the Bureau of Public Procurement. Some of the courses attended includes Comprehensive Computer Training on Auto CAD, Professional Education Course for Prospective Corporate Members, and several Engineering Assembly of the Recognition: Engr. Dr. Funmilayo Waheed Adekojo has been severally recognized, one of which is the Icon of Societal Development Award, given by the Progressive Student Movement.

She was singled out and honoured in 2020 with the award of Honorary Doctor of Science, Honoris Causa (D. Sc. Hons) in Public and Organizational Leadership by the European-American University, Republic of Panama. She also got Honorary Doctor of Philosophy (Honoris Causa) 5 Degree in Public Administration from the Universite Protestante De LAfrique De LOuest, Port Novo, Republic of Benin. There is no doubt that Engr. Dr. (Mrs.) Funmilayo Mary Waheed-Adekojo has, within a short period of time, paid her dues in her chosen field of engineering profession, even as she has adequately demonstrated a very strong character in the area of philanthropic and humanitarian services as well as job creation and women empowerment, the avenues through which she is relentlessly contributing to the development of the Nigerian nation. She has attended many conferences both locally and international some of which she was the guest speaker. Engr. Dr. (Mrs.) Funmilayo Waheed-Adekojo is happily married and the union is blessed with four children. She loves reading, music and dancing at her leisure. She is a music artist and recently released her single debut titled “It is our Time” and others including “I can make it”, “I love you Lord”, “Halleluyah”, by Funmi Ayinke”.and also Lunched her Record label (FUNMI AYINKE RECORD LEBEL) and new single “Obinrin”.



To keep abreast of development in her Professional Circle and the society at large, she has at various times, attended many knowledge enhancing courses and trainings. Some of these include, Fundamental Doctrine in Christian Faith on Discipleship, among many others. There is no doubt that Engr. Dr. Funmilayo Mary Waheed-Adekojo has, within a short period of time, paid her dues in her chosen field of Engineering Profession, even as she has adequately demonstrated a very strong character in the area of philanthropic and humanitarian services as well as job creation and Women Empowerment, the avenues through which she is relentlessly contributing to the development of the Nigerian nation.
